About the Program and Our Mission
NC SAVAN, the state’s automated victim assistance and notification program, operates a 24-hour toll-free automated offender information and notification service. NC SAVAN educates the public about victim notification options and rights and victim assistance resources. The program leads the effort to improve information sharing to support safety, justice and healing for victims.
Individuals may call the toll-free number, 877-NC SAVAN, (877) 627-2826, to learn about an offender’s status, to register for offender notification or to learn about victim assistance resources in their area. Notifications are provided in English and Spanish and translation services are available in more than 100 languages relative to services provided by SAVAN.
Through this website, crime victims and their families are offered information to guide them through each stage of the criminal justice process. Victims have rights, and NC SAVAN is committed to providing a central place where victims can learn about their rights and how they can participate in the criminal justice process.
NC SAVAN offers a service where victims can learn about the custody status of their offender and offers automated telephone and e-mail notifications. This service is meant to augment victim services offered by key agencies.
